With advanced nuclear cardiac imaging facilities and nationally recognized expertise, the DMC’s Cardiovascular Institute (CVI) offers one of the most comprehensive cardiac imaging programs in Michigan.
CVI offers nuclear imaging studies and other non-invasive imaging modalities to:
- accurately diagnose blockages in the arteries of the heart,
- recognize the presence of prior heart attacks,
- assess the pumping function of the heart, and
- predict the chance of future heart attacks and the risk of death due to cardiac causes.
Led by cardiac imaging experts trained in cardiology, nuclear medicine and nuclear cardiac imaging, the program provides referring physicians with detailed reports and in-depth interpretation of cardiac imaging studies. This high level of detail helps the referring physician develop the best treatment plan for each patient.
In addition to echocardiography and traditional nuclear imaging studies, CVI also has a Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scan program. PET scans can be completed more quickly than traditional nuclear cardiac imaging studies and provide greater scan clarity for more accurate interpretation.
